When I first started traveling years ago, after I got married and before children, the sturdiness of a bag that I packed my clothes and essentials in never crossed my mind. Not even once. I was perfectly happy with any suitcase that was colorful with a feminine design, and big, as I tend to over-pack. I always have and always will.
These days, I tend to travel with several bags, three to be exact, just for me, and yes, I mentioned I am an over-packer, so the thought of packing one bag is unheard of. However, recently I was given a light-weight hard-sided 21-inch Elite Roxbury 2.0 carry on bag from Ricardo Beverly Hills and I have to say, this piece of luggage is not only sturdy, but roomy. I am hooked, Ricardo!
What I Like About the Hard-Shell Ricardo Roxbury 2.0
- Sturdy
- Light-weight
- Roomy
- Stylish
- Maneuvers easily
The Ricardo Roxbury 2.0 is made out of high-impact Makrolon Polycarbonate. I had no idea and still do not know what this material is, however, it is awesome and super durable, and this carry-on weighs a mere 8.6 pounds/3.9kg. The Ricardo Roxbury is also so smooth and easy to maneuver that anyone could handle this light-weight bag.
And did I mention roomy? Yes! This suitcase is extremely expandable and being the over-packer that I am, that is a huge plus for this busy traveler. As mentioned earlier, years past, I always looked for luggage that was colorful with a feminine style, so when I received the Ricardo Elite Roxbury and saw the pretty black cherry color, it put a big smile on my face. It was perfect.
Here’s a peek at the bag, and if you don’t quite get the TSA-friendly locks, check this video from Scotty Reiss, Driving TravelingMom as she explains to us exactly how they work.
What I Don’t Like About the Ricardo Roxbury 2.0
- Hard-shell surface
- 360 degree spinning wheels
Years past I always had soft-sided, flexible luggage. The Ricardo Roxbury has a hard exterior shell which is totally something different for me. I actually do like the look of the hard-shell, it just may take some getting used to.
I also have never owned a suitcase that had 360 degree spinning wheels. Yes, it is convenient that you could just pull it along side of you when walking, however, if you happen to be in an area where the ground has any incline at all, it’s best to pay attention as your bag will start to leave you. Yes, it will roll away, bye-bye Ricardo Roxbury!
Final Thoughts
Overall, the Ricardo Elite Roxbury 2.0 suitcase is just what I need for a carry-on bag. It is extremely durable, light-weight, expandable, and elegant. While I might take my larger suitcase for longer adventures, the Ricardo bag is at the top of my list for day trips and even long weekend getaways.
