Re-Imagined Disney Magic Sets Sail This Fall

By Stephanie McCarty

Disney Cruise Line’s first ship, The Disney Magic, has been undergoing a magical transformation in Spain this fall, and the “re-imagined” ship offers many new magical experiences for guests. The ship, which has been sailing for 15 years, definitely has the “wow” factor with all of these enhancements.

When guests board the ship, they will enter a stunning new grand atrium (three decks high), complete with a grand piano and a bronze Mickey statue, and that’s just the beginning.

The re-imagined ship boasts two new restaurants, the new “It’s a Small World” nursery, an unbelievable new water slide, and the debut of Marvel superheroes at sea!

Disney’s Oceaneer Club, for kids ages 3-12, features many new experiences. Superhero fans will love the new Marvel Avengers Academy, where they can participate in special missions and interact with favorite Marvel characters.

A new pirate-themed area has been added to Oceaneer Lab, and there are new areas featuring Disney favorites like Tinker Bell and the Toy Story characters as well.

Looking for some water fun? This ship will not disappoint! The AquaDunk, a new 3-story body slide, and new water play areas offer something for the entire family.

There are new clubs for dancing, comedy and fun for adults only, and the whole family can enjoy entertainment and activities together in D Lounge.

The ship’s restaurants have also received a makeover. Animator’s Palate will offer a “Drawn to Magic” experience, where Disney characters come to life right before your eyes. The Magic will now offer the
“Animation Magic” dinner show that has been so popular on the Disney Fantasy, allowing guests to bring their own creations to life on screens around the restaurant.

Looking for some relaxation? Senses Spa and Salon has been expanded and offers a spectacular ocean view. Teens can “chill out” too at the Chill Spa, offering treatments for teens only. The staterooms have been redesigned to provide more room for families, with under-bed storage and the split-bathrooms that are unique to the Disney cruise ships.

The re-imagined ship sets sail in late October 2013. The Magic sails from Miami to the Caribbean this fall, and from Port Canaveral to the Bahamas during the winter months. The Magic will offer sailings from Barcelona and Venice for Mediterranean cruises in the summer of 2014.
