After a hot day at Walt Disney World’s theme parks, what better way to cool off than heading to the pool?
If you’re staying at one of the Walt Disney World Resort hotels, you can get back to the pool quickly – and these aren’t just regular pools. Disney resorts offer some of the most amazing pool complexes you’ll find anywhere!
Disney’s Value Resorts offer fantastically themed pools including a guitar-shaped pool at Disney’s All Star Music Resort, and the Hippy Dippy pool at Disney’s Pop Century Resort, featuring flower-shaped water jets. The main pool at Disney’s new Art of Animation Resort has an extra-special surprise in store. The Big Blue Pool features audio from Finding Nemo, that can only be heard underwater. Your kids will have hours of fun splashing and playing in any of these super-themed pools!
Pools at Disney’s Moderate Resorts offer more elaborate theming. Kids and adults will enjoy the pool, shaped like a Mayan Temple, at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. A Spanish fortress and 2 slides (one measuring 102 feet long) at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort will delight the pirate lover, and little ones can splash and play in the shipwreck play area. The centerpiece of Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter Resort is a 51-foot long sea serpent slide. Its sister resort, Port Orleans Riverside, offers a more laid back venue at Ol Man’s Bayou, fashioned after an abandoned sawmill, which also features a 95-foot waterslide built into the millworks.
Pools at Disney’s Deluxe Resorts are even more impressive. You can slide down a volcano at Disney’s Polynesian Resort volcano pool, or out of a clown’s mouth at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn carnival-themed pool. Pools at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge offer a tropical oasis in the savanna.
And then there’s Stormalong Bay, at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resort. This 3-acre water wonderland offers something for everyone. A sand-bottom pool is a hit with the kids (you can bring your own sand toys, and there are often sand pails and shovels scattered around). Kids meals at Hurricane Hanna’s Bar and Grille come with a sand pail and shovel as well. Adventurous types will love zipping down the 230-foot-long waterslide, which starts atop the mast of a life-sized shipwreck replica. There’s a separate kiddie slide for the little ones too. Those looking for a more relaxing experience can float down the lazy river on an inner tube (available for rental) or unwind in one of 3 whirlpool spas.
These are just some of the amazing resort pools found at Walt Disney World. All of Disney’s resort hotels offer leisure pools or “quiet pools” around the resort, if you’re looking for less activity and more relaxation. Many of Disney’s resort pools have pool bars, offering refreshments and drinks (for kids and grown-ups alike).
Disney’s resort-pools are heated year round, so you can enjoy them even when the weather is a little cooler. But, after a long day of touring the Disney theme parks in the Florida sun, there is nothing better than cooling off at one of Disney’s resort pools.
