In the fall of 2012, Hurricane Sandy demolished much of the Jersey Shore. The area is back on its feet and one spot you don’t want to miss is the Ocean Place Resort in Long Branch, New Jersey. Completely renovated, the resort offers a beautiful beach, a spa, a fitness center, indoor and outdoor ocean-view dining, a tiki bar, two swimming pools, and complimentary wifi. There’s also an assortment of shops and restaurants in Pier Village, just a few steps away from the hotel, including one of my favorite eateries, Shaka.
The new décor at Ocean Place features an energetic blue circular theme, which pulls in the feel of the waves and the sea. The resort is oriented so every room has an ocean view. Some of my favorite features include:
Spacious entry area with a window, closet, luggage rack, and table. It’s fantastic to have this extra space, which is separate from the main room and not carpeted, especially in the summer when you’re coming in with sand and wet towels and bathing suits.
Large, walk-in shower. Warm, beachy decor.
Outlets on both sides of the nightstand! How many times have you had to reach behind furniture to plug in your chargers in a hotel?
Excellent food. I was there for a group event and the buffet-style meals were outstanding. Hot, fresh food, crisp veggies, and incredible desserts. The variety was also surprising – smoked salmon at breakfast, sandwiches, salads, and hot entrees for lunch! Plus you get an ocean view while you eat.
Here’s a tour of my room at Ocean Place Resort.
If you’re planning a visit to the Jersey Shore this summer, Long Branch is quieter than some other beach destinations. There are no crazy boardwalk arcades and it’s not mobbed with 20-somethings. For a romantic getaway or a family beach excursion, I highly recommend Ocean Place Resort.
