Magical Transformations for your Pirate and Princess

By Stephanie McCarty

Looking for an extra special experience for your little ones during your Walt Disney World vacation?

Your child can be transformed into a pirate or a princess during a unique experience at the Walt Disney World Resort.

If your little girl dreams of being a princess, a visit to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique should definitely be on your must-do list. With two locations at Walt Disney World, in the World of Disney store at Downtown Disney, or inside Cinderella Castle in the Magic Kingdom, Bibbiddi Bobbidi Boutique is a popular stop for many little princesses.

Your child will receive a beautiful makeover fit for a queen. There are several different packages available, from stylish updo’s and hairstyles, to full princess makeovers complete with shoes and royal gown. There is also a new Sofia the First package, following the popularity of the Disney Junior show. Packages start at $55 and up. More information on package options can be found online at: Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Park.

When you arrive at the boutique, your daughter will receive a royal invitation to begin her makeover.

Cinderella dress and photo

When my daughter first visited BBB, we bought a special costume (Cinderella’s wedding dress) for her ahead of time (on sale at disneystore.com). In true Disney fashion, the fairy godmothers at the boutique went out of their way to make the experience special. They whisked away the dress and it magically appeared in the fitting room, freshly steamed, and accompanied by an autographed picture of

Cinderella. My daughter was completely surprised by this gift from her favorite princess.

princess transformation

The transformation itself is really fun. Little princesses are given the royal treatment while their fairy godmother does their hair,di makeup, and nails – with parents and Disney PhotoPass photographers snapping away like the paparazzi. When the makeover is complete, your princess will be sprinkled with fairy dust and given a royal sash, along with a BBB cinch sack, as well as the comb, makeup and nail polish, which are theirs to keep!

transformation complete

After the makeover, many choose to dine at one of the popular princess meals – Cinderella’s Royal Table in the Magic Kingdom; Akershus Royal Banquet Hall at Epcot; or 1900 Park Fare at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. All dressed up and nowhere to go? There are special areas for photos with a Disney PhotoPass photographer (they will even let you snap a few of your own photos) at Guest Relations next to Tren- D at Downtown Disney or the Castle Couture shop across from Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom.

with Prince Charming

Young princes should not feel left out, there are special packages available for boys here too. You can inquire about the “Knight” packages, which include hair styling, as well as sword and shield.

Bibbibi Bobbidi Boutique is a very popular experience, so reservations are strongly recommended (walk-ins are rare) and can be made up to 180 days in advance by calling: 407.WDW.STYLE. (407.939.7895). Reservations for Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Disneyland can be made by calling: 714.781.STYLE. Please note that a $10 cancellation fee will be applied to no-shows or cancellations not made 24 hours in advance. Note: Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is also available onboard the Disney Fantasy, for 7-night cruises to the Caribbean.

Following their makeovers, many families choose to dine with their favorite princesses at one of the popular character meals located around Walt Disney World (Cinderella’s Royal Table in the Magic Kingdom; Akershus at Epcot and 1900 Park Fare at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort).

If pirates and mermaids are more of your child’s thing, a visit to the Pirates League at The Magic Kingdom is in order. The Pirates League is an interactive pirate experience for both boys and girls (and grown-ups as well). Kids can be transformed into pirates or even mermaids, and even get their own pirate name. Pirates League is located near the entrance to the Pirates of the Caribbean ride in the Magic Kingdom’s Adventureland.

There are several packages, ranging in price from $30 – $75, for ages 3 and up. Options include: Jake and the Neverland Pirates; The First Mate; Empress; Mermaid; and Deluxe Mermaid and Jake package options.

Following the transformation, your pirate or mermaid will enter the Secret Room where the hidden treasure will be revealed.

All packages include makeup and accessories (which vary by package). Pirates and Mermaids can participate in the afternoon Adventureland Pirate Parade as well (when available).

Reservations are strongly recommended, and can be made up to 180 days prior to arrival by calling: 407.WDW.CREW (939-2730). Like BBB, a credit card guarantee is required, with a $10 cancellation fee applied for no-shows or less than 24 hour cancellation. Since Pirates League is located inside the Magic Kingdom, theme park admission is required. More information can be found online at: Pirates League.

For both BBB and Pirates League, hair must be clean, combed, and free of scalp conditions, as well as gels, hairspray and other products.
Fingernails must be clean and unpolished (for those packages included nail painting). One adult must stay with the child through the entire appointment.
