2015 Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring: Cruising Orlando in Style

By Paula Schmitt

On the afternoon that my 13-year-old daughter arrived home from school and saw the 2015 Mazda CX-9 sitting in our driveway she immediately asked if we could keep it. Just by looks my teenage daughter fell in love with the car. Unfortunately the answer was no. We only had the car for one week and boy did we ever enjoy cruising Orlando in Style.

Exterior

Mazda, in my opinion, builds an impressive car and the CX-9’s striking exterior design is not surprising. This model captures your eye with its sleek and classy look.

Some of my favorite accents on the exterior of the 2015 Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring are the standard 20” aluminum alloy wheels. Very nice! The power open/close lift gate also comes in handy every time, especially on grocery shopping days.

Interior

The interior of the Mazda CX-9 is extremely spacious, comfortable and upscale. Leather seating in the first and second rows along with heated power front passenger seats drew me quickly in with a smile. Interior space and comfort are a big plus for This Girl and the Mazda CX-9 has no shortage of these features.

Performance

Over the week I drove the car I had lots of opportunity to test how the car handled through country back roads to stop-and-go traffic in the city. The Mazda CX-9 offered an extremely smooth, silent ride and the engine’s get-up-and-go horsepower definitely goes when your foot hits the gas. I like that. With a 3.7-liter V6 engine, it provides a grand 273 horsepower mixed with a six-speed sport automatic transmission.

Technology

I was very happy to see that there were several convenient upgrades included in the Mazda CX-9 such as Blind-Spot Monitoring System, Rear Backup Sensors, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Mazda’s Advanced Keyless Entry/Start System. I also was excited to see Heated Power Mirrors, USB Audio Input and a 3-Zone Auto Climate Control along with Sirius XM Radio which worked like a charm.

Closing Thoughts

2015 Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring- Cruising Orlando in Style Overall I was highly impressed with the Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring FWD. It was roomy, attractive, and very comfortable. If you are in the market for a classy, 7-passenger car without paying a huge price tag, you’ll be thrilled to know that the 2015 Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring starts at $35,035 with 17 city/24 hwy mpg.

What features do you look for in a family car?

Disclosure: Thanks to Mazda for loaning me a 2015 Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring FWD for review purposes. All opinions are strictly my own.
